Partners In Care

The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) would like to acknowledge that we are currently on the Dish With One Spoon Territory.

The land we are on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabek, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and peoples, Europeans and all newcomers, have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect.

This meeting place of Toronto is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful for the opportunity to love, live and work on this territory.

CCVT would like to acknowledge that we are all treaty peoples – including those of us who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past; and those of us who came here involuntarily – particularly as a result of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
