Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a leadership initiative for newcomer youth aged 15-30 which will run from August 2022-March 2023.

The committee will have 10 youth who will work together with the Youth Outreach Worker, Counselors and volunteers to enhance program quality at CCVT. As youth ambassadors, they will have the opportunity to participate in leadership roles by providing suggestions, feedback, ideas and concerns from their personal experiences of utilizing services.

The Youth Outreach worker and other volunteers will ensure that a safe space is created for youth to thrive and learn. The goal is to empower youth by providing them with new skills, confidence and improve social inclusion.

This will be achieved by having trainings and various platforms for knowledge exchange. Together, youth will build a safe space and support each other through their shared experiences.

They will work together to build meaningful connections with each other as well as various networking opportunities with organizations and community services.
